Aurgazinsky District (Russian: Аургазинский район; Bashkir: Аурғазы районы) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the fifty-four in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. It is located in the central part of the republic and borders with Karmaskalinsky District in the north, Gafuriysky District in the east, Sterlitamaksky District in the south, and Alsheyevsky and Davlekanovsky Districts in the west. The area of the district is 2,014.03 square kilometers (777.62 sq mi).[3] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Tolbazy.[2] District's population: 36,967 (2010 Census preliminary results);[4] 38,996 (2002 Census);[2] 39,069 (1989 Census).[8] Population of Tolbazy accounts for 26.1% of the district's population.[2]

The district was established in 1930.[3]

The district area is characterized by ridges and undulating plains and has deposits of gypsum and limestone and oil fields (Buzovyazovskoye, Tolbazinskoye, Urshakskoye, etc.) The climate is continental, moderately moist, and the average annual temperature is 16 °C (61 °F) in January and 19 °C (66 °F) in July. It has an average annual rainfall of 500 millimeters (20 in), with 350 millimeters (14 in) falling during the warm period. Oak, birch, linden, and aspen forests occupy about 18% of the area and a total of 27.3% is wooded. Fauna is represented by steppe and forest species.
